Four Week "Grooming for a Living" Course
  
   
This course is designed as a foundation for those who wish to have a career in and earn their living from dog grooming. You will work on a one to one basis with a senior groomer who will actively encourage you to develop your skills on a wide variety of breeds.
This is a very practical course and it will take you through the following modules:
 
  • Assessing the dog in front of you
  • Signs of good.health
  • Types of coat and their care
  • Lifting, handling and restraining dogs
  • Safety in the Grooming Parlour
  • Grooming Equipment and its maintenance
  • Bathing techniques
  • Shampoos and Conditioners and which to use
  • Brushing out
  • Drying techniques
  • De-matting techniques
  • Eye, toenail and ear care
  • Parasites and how to deal with them
  • Basic clipping and trimming
  • Basic clips
  • Clip Offs
  • Use of clippers for clipping and styling
  • Clipping feet
  • Clipping faces
  • Scissoring Techiques
  • Use of thinning scissors, when and how
  • Styles for a wide variety of breeds
  • Introduction to hand stripping
  • Time management, how to make the best of your working day
You will be actively encouraged to interact with our clients and you will pick up lots of hints and tips along the way.
This is a four week course but it may be taken in blocks of two weeks at a time to fit in with your lifestyle and commitments.
At the end of successful completion of this course you will be awarded a "Certificate of Competence in Dog Grooming" and if you wish, a reference in English or French for you to give to a future employer.
All equipment is supplied and we supply a grooming apron, but please ensure that you wear comfortable clothing and most importantly comfortable footwear.
Hours are 9.30 to 12.30 and 14.30 to finish Tuesday to Friday, Saturday 9.30 to finish (usually 14.30)
   
The cost of this course is 2,700 Euros - in £'s Sterling
 
If you have already completed the one week course and are following up with three weeks of this course then the cost of the first week is deducted from the above amount,
